The Youth Choral Theater of Chicago has gained recognition as one of the nation's most exciting and innovative choral education and performance programs for young people. History

Started as the Jubilate Children’s Choir in 1985, the Youth Choral Theater of Chicago has since grown into one of the nation’s most exciting youth choral ensembles. Behind the brilliant leadership of Artistic Director Paul Caldwell, who has been heading the choir since 2001, the Youth Choral Theater has reached new heights in performances in the Chicago area and all around the country. The organization has almost doubled enrollment and audience support, while spearheading increasingly creative, complex performance projects with a variety of collaborators.

Mission

With different ability levels ranging from beginner to young professional, the Youth Choral Theater of Chicago encourages children of all ages, backgrounds and talents to develop their voice as an instrument in an environment of active and creative vocal training. Recognizing the role of performance plays in developing self-esteem and personal growth, the Youth Choral Theater provides choral performance opportunities appropriate to each choir's development level. The choir is dedicated to artistic excellence, bringing fine music to new and diverse audiences in Chicago and nationwide.
